POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Quality Technician for Receiving Inspection is responsible for managing the incoming quality inspection of purchased parts. The focus of this role is ensuring suppliers continue to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention and reduce deviation and waste for mechanical parts. The Quality Technician should focus on continuous improvement and ensure compliance to the defined quality standards and technical requirements.

The role requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, measurement tools, inspection techniques, and the ability to operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Understanding of International Standards, DoD regulations, U.S. Military Standards, and National Standards are necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Quality Manager, to implement in-house quality procedures, standards, and specifications to ensure consistent product quality and compliance of purchased parts

  • Adhere to quality management priorities and processes to ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015, DoD regulations, internal company standards, and other US military and international standards, as required

  • Ensure tools are calibrated before use and perform performance checks of calibrated tools, when necessary

  • Plan, conduct, document, and report on incoming quality inspections of purchased parts, mechanical parts, and sub-assemblies verifying that the product quality complies to engineering drawings, work instructions, and other control procedures, as applicable

  • Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) to ensure material specification, special processes, and critical dimensions are within acceptable limits

  • Manage and drive improvements of purchased parts by analyzing defects and trends to determine root cause using structured Quality techniques

  • Support Quality Manger in completing delegated tasks, such as ITAR compliance activities and audit processes and activities

  • Participate in team activities and provide expertise for effective problem-resolution

  • Conduct and support routine Material Review Board (MRB) activities for timely disposition of sourced parts

  • Perform data entry of ERP System transactions, as required

  • Provide back-up support for continual improvement initiatives of the Quality Management Systems (QMS), MRB, and Receipt Inspection (RI)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • High school Diploma/GED required; Associates Degree preferred

  • 2 years of related work experience in the inspection of one or more areas: electrical, mechanical fabricated parts, or cables and assemblies

  • Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, and specifications

  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other measurement tools

  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of inspection techniques and tools

Attributes

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with suppliers in relation to technical data

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and with Internet Explorer


Other Requirements

  • Current Secret Security Clearance preferred, or ability to obtain one

  • Occasional travel required
